GPT Payphone's products and systems utilise leading edge technology supplying a world-wide network in secure, semi-secure and outdoor locations in over 80 countries.

Brief
Design Technology International were commissioned to design and develop a new modular range of vandal-proof public payphones that could offer payment methods by coin, credit or pre-pay cards or a mix of options to suit the market. Previously, alternative methods of payment had been confined to individual payphone designs.

Speed to market was a critical requirement for GPT as they wanted to be the first movers with public payphones offering a variety of payment methods.

As public payphones are exposed to the extremes of weather, rough handling and even vandal attack, the selection of materials and finishes was critical. The resultant designs had to be robust and durable, yet aesthetically pleasing and simple to use by a wide range of age groups.
